Helping Your Child Manage Their Anger
Anger is a normal and healthy emotion. But children can struggle to tell between angry feelings or aggressive behavior.
Your child’s frustration and anger can quickly turn into disrespect and aggression if left unaddressed. Our Daycare in New York has dealt with a few angry toddlers here and there. So we have first-hand experience in solving these types of crises.
Independent Toddler Childcare has a few tips on teaching your child how to manage their anger. Take a look:
- Be a role model
-Our Childcare Center in New York, New York often has role plays to show children how to act and respond in certain situations. You can do the same to show them how you deal with your own emotions. - Establish rules
-Communicate which behaviors are acceptable and which ones aren’t. Create written household rules to help your child remember. Your child will be familiar with this as they also have written classroom rules in Early Childhood Education. - Teach them healthy coping skills
-Don’t just tell them what they did wrong. Help them learn how to deal with their emotions properly by guiding them to find healthy coping skills when dealing with anger.
